Fuel Pump Module
Our FPWH-002 harness included in this kit is required for a HP pump to meet stated performance specifications because the factory wiring was not designed to handle high-performance pumps which draw more than twice the power of a factory pump. A performance reduction of 15-25% in pump performance can be expected along with reduced reliability when a HP pump is run off of the factory wiring harness.
The FPA-002 incorporates a high-performance 255LPH pump but since this pump is run at a base pressure of 58PSI (vs. 43.5PSI) its flow rating drops to a nominal 225LPH @ 13.5V. This has been a constant source of confusion on car forums due to misinformation being posted.

The Racetronix LS1 fuel pump module is a direct drop-in replacement for the factory GM plastic pump assembly. No modification is required to the factory sending unit. Simply remove the old plastic pump assembly and put in the new one. Installation of the Racetronix LS1 fuel pump module can be easily done in under 5 minutes with basic hand tools. The Racetronix fuel pump module is designed to position the pump in the factory location for optimal performance. Should the pump ever require service, it can be removed from the module using the supplied hex key by removing two of the mounting dowels. The Racetronix pickup adapter allows the factory filter sock used on the Walbro pump which has a much greater surface area than the after market types thereby providing longer filter service life. Retaining the factory filter sock also allows the GM return system be kept intact thereby reducing contamination and foaming. The Racetronix LS1 fuel module is made from T6 high-grade aluminum which is bright dip anodized and sealed for long life. A factory-type fuel feed tube is clamped to the pump’s outlet for added reliability under high operating pressures. This fuel tube is more flexible than a rubber line making for easier installation. The fuel tube is highly resistant to the harsh chemicals in today’s gasoline which tend to attack and dry out rubber fuel lines. The Racetronix in-tank pump wiring eliminates the need for an in-tank wiring adapter or butt connectors which can be unreliable and can cause voltage drop. The Racetronix in-tank pump harness plugs directly into the pump and the other end into the factory bulkhead connector. Teflon wire is used throughout as is done from the factory. Teflon wire is the most resistant to gasoline and provides maximum voltage to the pump.

High performance fuel pumps need a good power source in order to perform to their full potential. On average a Walbro high-performance fuel pump requires twice as much power as a factory fuel pump. Factory wiring is just enough for a factory pumps power requirements because manufacturers need to save cost and weight. Racetronix field tests have shown that running a high-performance fuel pump off of the factory wiring can cut pump performance by 30% or more. Problems with failing factory relays, connectors/terminals and fuse contacts are also common when excessive load is placed on them.
The Racetronix plug and play harness is designed to remove all fuel pump load from the factory pump circuits while providing the pump with a new heavy-duty power source. The Racetronix harness gets its power directly from the alternator’s battery terminal. The voltage at the alternators output is typically 1-2 volts higher than at the battery when the motor is running (high charge/load conditions and WOT). This means that your high-performance pump can provide as much as 20% more fuel in some cases. The Racetronix harness uses high-quality automotive-grade wire which is resistant to oil, gas, heat and rot. The main length of wire in the Racetronix harness is three to four gauges thicker than factory wire which helps reduce resistive power loss to almost non-existent levels. This helps improve pump performance by as much as another 10-20%. High-quality weatherproof fuse holders and relays are used for maximum reliability. The Racetronix harness has factory-type connectors which plug directly into your fuel pump module/sender so no cutting or splicing is required. The Racetronix harness has a redundant ground upgrade as it is necessary to improve the harness on the negative side of the pump’s supply as well.
There is nothing worse than being in the middle of an installation only to find that the manufacturer has skimped on installation hardware. This is why Racetronix supplies a spare ATM fuse, 25 black nylon wire ties, silicon grease and stainless mounting hardware with each kit.
